Marcus Rashford. The real deal.
Scored a hatrick for the U21s. Scored on each of his debuts now. If you're good enough, you're old enough. Must surely be Rooney's successor at both club and international level?

Not a myth at all imo. Look at how many teenagers are regualrs in the real big sides now, I'd say the round sum of zero? Take your point ref Ali, but would he get in Man U/City, Arse, Chelsea side regularly if they signed him instead, I think not.

What a lot of teams are looking for now is a centre forward who is big enough to hold the ball up and mobile and skilful enough to get on the ball and move the defence around. Like a Lewandowski
Rashford and Kane are those types
Rooney and Owen are more the types who need a partner.
Probably part of the reason Rooney has moved further and further away from goal.

I think that's a bit of a myth. If the young players are good enough they'll still get plenty of games. Dele Alli played 60 or so games last season for club & country and he was only 19 when he went there.

Think the bigger challenge for young strikers these days is that nearly everyone only plays one up front. When Owen broke into the England side he played alongside Shearer in a 4-4-2 - if he were to break through now he'd probably have to play on the wing.

It'll be interesting to see how much game time he gets this season, with Ibrahimovich and Martial also there.

Would proabaly agree, at least with Rooney anyway, but worth remembering that it's even harder now to get a run of games at that age (to really prove yourself) particuarly at a big club. Would Rooney and Owen get the game time now they got back then?

Suppose, one of his goals last night was almost a carbon copy of the one he scored against us in the FA Cup.

The game was massive I agree but the difficulty is similar though

Can be compared to scoring in a World Cup knockout stage against Argentina? Not having that.

Re: Marcus Rashford. The real deal.
He can be compared to Owen. Scoring in the Manchester derby can be compared to Owens goal vs Argentina. Both 18 at the time

I-Ron,
He's been compared to Owen and Rooney. Anyone that thinks he's close to their level at the same age is definitely overrating him.

I think he's decent but not as good as some on here are making out.

I reckon he'll turn into every other England player

Start off fearless, end up a big name bottle job.

He's a lively little fucker. Even during the Euro's the small bits he played he seemed willing to have a go.

Hope he doesn't get ruined.

Or turn into every other black footballer.

Overpaid cunts with attitude.

Owen was 18 when he scored against Argentina in the knock out stage of a World Cup, bit different to what Rashford has achieved so far.

came on against Hull and completely changed the game. Unlucky that Ibra is banging them in at the moment but in the form he is in he will be hard to ignore for long

Way too early to tell.

The future looks promising but typically and English player who breaks through at an early age suffers from the media pressure and burn out.

agree 100%- he looked a different class in the games versus us, and scored goals that we dont often see.

Lets hope his pal Fletcher can emulate him!
